International MBA
Description of the sector
The International MBA is designed to enhance the skills and careers of practicing managers and professionals. The modules and the assessment (examinations and assignments) are delivered in English, and the degree is awarded by the UNIVERSITY OF WINCHESTER , U.K.
Classes are held from October to June with attendance on three days per month for eight months or for one week every two months over an eight month period. The summer will be focused on the Project. Total credits gained for the degree 180 ECTS.

Global Marketing is the discipline of planning, organising and managing marketing resources on a global basis, to achieve an organisation’s specific marketing objectives. Marketing management is regarded as a key area of management in both the private and not for profit sectors. This module examines how theories and methodologies of marketing management can be applied to ensure long-term success for organisations. The theory is supported by real state case studies, where there is an opportunity to find the differences in various countries and the application of the appropriate actions to be taken to address different cases. Students will be encouraged to present actual different situations that are present in various countries and lead to alternative policies.

The dissertation enables students to specialise in an area of interest by conducting an independent, in-depth research project, guided by research-active tutors. Students will evaluate and synthesise research philosophies, develop research strategies, conduct research using secondary and/or primary sources and analyse their findings in relation to existing theories. The dissertation is of interest to potential future employers, demonstrating critical abilities, research expertise and business knowledge. It can also prompt student interest in conducting further research, whether in a consultancy role or in continued academic research at PhD level.

The modules aim is to introduce students to issues of securing knowledge about the human behaviours in work places through the design of research projects, collection and analysis of data, and presentation of results. The module focuses on skills and knowledge necessary for the successful completion of a research project.

The module introduces students to the concepts of enterprise, entrepreneurship and innovation from an international perspective. It develops a deep understanding of the role and relevance of enterprise, entrepreneurship and innovation as critical features of economic and social development for various nations and types of organisation, public and private. Within the module, students will develop their entrepreneurial management skills and the ability to cope with ambiguity, uncertainty and complexity. Sustainability is an important factor, which will be introduced as a feature of innovative management. Actual cases will be introduced to explain the situations that have to be considered when plans and goals are set.

Students will develop critical perspectives on how the performance at organisational, group and individual levels can be enhanced and inspired by strategic leadership and direction, as well as of knowledge and understanding of the role of performance management in supporting the strategic objectives of the organisation in different business environments. The theoretical foundations will be illustrated with examples and integrated with practical exercises in order to help students develop knowledge, skills and capabilities to assume a substantive strategic leadership role within an organisation in both domestic and international context. Students will be asked to present real cases from different environments and comment on the proposed proper address of the differences.

In this module we will be examining a number of conceptual and analytical approaches and models to help us understand: a) the internal assets and capabilities of, as well as the political dynamics within an organisation, b) its relationships with suppliers, customers, regulatory bodies and other institutions, c) all of the above in the context of globalization and international competition. Following on from this analysis, we will consider the issues involved in understanding and designing strategic options, including those related to managing risk, managing expectations for accountability and ethical business behaviours (CSR, responsible management). Emphasis will be given to sustainability and the impact on climatic change.

This module aims to equip students with the knowledge, understanding of international business environment, the challenges and dilemmas this presents for managers and organizations, and the variety of organizational forms and corporate strategies employed in contemporary international business. Students will be presented to different international environments, where different factors play a role that has not the same importance and impacts on the “similar” situations. They need to understand that the same factor may have different influence and results under different market and/or social conditions. It is aimed at PG Students who would like to work in the international business arena.

This module introduces students to a systemic approach to identifying, understanding and analysing macro, meso and micro issues which have significant implications for the successful management of people and organisations and to produce appropriate detailed recommendations for organizational implementation. People act as individuals, but also in groups. The interaction of a staff member is different as a supervisor, as a peer or as a subordinate. The motivation of employees to produce the required results and remain satisfied is an important element of the module. The presentations of real case studies, in various situations, where specific principles have been used and results that have been produced, will help students understand better the theory presented.

This module considers the ways that those internal and external factors to a business can make the appropriate business decisions that enable them to make the most favorable use of financial resources. The students will be introduced to techniques used in evaluating the role of financial institutions and the economic environment in financial business decision making, including basic financial feasibility appraisals of proposed investments, and the assessment of the sources of finance available for investments, and the operation of the business in various environments. Beyond the theory and the principles, there will be business cases that help the students understand better the impact of implementing in practice the theory.

The module will enable the development of the analytical skills necessary to make a positive contribution to issues concerning Operations Management. It will be described the strategic contribution that effective Operations Management can play within organisations. And finally, students will be able to determine how the Operations functions within both public and private sector organisations can successfully integrate with other organisational functions.
Postgraduate entry requirements
University degree and a minimum of two years work experience usually in a middle-management role. If you are a senior manager with substantial experience, but you do not have a first degree, you will be considered. You may be invited to attend an interview.
